Coffman Associates completed an EA for the projects reflected in the airport’s five-year CIP. The CIP included a number of projects such as RSA improvements to both of the airport’s runways, the development of general aviation hangars and associated taxiways and apron areas, improvements to the airport terminal area, and the development of cargo facilities. Through the preparation of the airport master plan, Coffman Associates became very familiar with the challenges which may arise during the preparation of the EA. Known environmental resources in the project area include a neighborhood and former school listed on the National Register of Historic Places, numerous wetland areas, prehistoric remains, and neighborhoods located in close proximity to the 65 DNL noise contour. In order to ensure the project moves smoothly, a series of public information workshops were planned for the EA as well as an intensive agency coordination process.
