With scheduled passenger service to San Francisco being provided by SkyWest in a recently expanded and updated passenger terminal, this northern California airport also provides support to USFS and CALFIRE firefighting units, FedEx, UPS, and several local businesses. In 2009, the IASCO international flight training facility started training pilots for multiple Chinese airlines, contributing to a 100 percent increase in local training at the facility. In this update to the 2004 Airport Master Plan (completed by Coffman Associates), the plans for a new parallel general aviation runway were re-examined as a replacement runway for an underutilized crosswind runway. The realignment of this runway provides the opportunity for more efficient expansion of general aviation storage hangars and reduces the amount of pavement rehabilitation required in future years. The study included a new aeronautical survey meeting the requirements of the FAA’s guidance and specifications for aeronautical surveys and submission to National Geodetic Survey. The airport complements a recently opened 700-acre Stillwater Business Park, offering large lots for office and industrial development.
