Tejon Ranch, California
Tejon Ranch is situated in the southern portion of the San Joaquin Valley. At 422 square miles, it is the largest piece of contiguous, privately owned land in California. Coffman Associates was contracted to find the most suitable area for an airport within the ranch, a task complicated by significant challenges including vast areas of prime farmland, the Tehachapi mountains, a natural gas power plant and transmission lines, an active mine, and the California Aqueduct. Using GIS modeling tools, we were able to locate the most ideal location that met the project team’s criteria.
